San Antonio de Areco is a very quaint, historic town located about 2 hours from BsAs. I have visited it for their annual Gaucho Festival at least 6 times and have never been disappointed. Gauchos, working farms in the surrounding areas, come with their families, friends, and horses for a huge Asado and to participate in the local parade. Others would challenge each other in horse riding events as you would expect to find only in a wild west rodeo. In the evening there were folkloric dancing and beers to share, in century-old saloons. The Gauchos tie up their horses in front with few cars to interrupt the magic. A visit to San Antonio de Areco is a trip back in time.
